THE GOOD NEIGHBOR

One Step at a Time

The Good Neighbor is an organization focused to help the homeless of San Diego meet their basic necessities. We hold pop-up shops in shelters with good quality products. Pop-up shops are a dignified way of donating since it allows the homeless to have a “shopping” experience.

BOTTLES OF HOPE

Bottles of Hope’s charity model is simple, we collect used plastic bottles from a local hotel and take them to a community support centre where we employ and train disadvantaged workforces to assemble our solar lamps. These are then distributed to low income families who find it difficult to connect to the national power grids and those families struggling with power cut prone monsoon season in Southern India. In future we plan to expand to other regions in India and in South and East Asia. Since starting in 2018 we have positively impacted over 500 individuals with our solar lamps; to see more about our distributions, the centre we have worked with and what we are planning on doing head over to our website.

Over the past year we have been developing new solar lamp mechanics which will decrease the amount of plastic used, increase light supply and make it more inclusive for other workforce’s . We are also developing a sustainable Buy for Buy Umbrella Scheme. We want the product sold to relate to the monsoon season and one common denominator with the UK and India is the rainy seasons. For every umbrella sold a solar lamp will be distributed to those in need. This new scheme will be operating in autumn so keep posted and SUBSCRIBE TO OUR WEBSITE!

SEATTLE RISE UP

We are five highschoolers near the Seattle area that came together with the vision to give back to our communities. We decided to make handmade care packages that include items such as, toothpaste, toothbrush, lip balm, body bar, sunscreen, razors, bandaids, lotion, and deodorant. We included these items because these are the items that many of us use without a second thought, and people don’t usually donate to shelters. We hope to give back to the community that has given us so much!

REFUGEE EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

The Refugee Empowerment Project is built to empower refugees by giving them the resources they need to prosper on their own. REP’s grassroots efforts began one year ago when founders Sienna Nazarian and Lily Sind began hosting Community Orientations for refugees. With hopes of holistically responding to the needs of refugees, they have expanded their reach through their 4 programs and team curated with passionate young students from around the world. They have made it their mission to bring a sense of hope to refugee communities across the world, bring together their own communities in the fight for opportunities and justice, and make a real change in the way refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers are treated and perceived. We are humans helping humans in times of crisis, who want to give these populations the resources and platform they have lacked.

YOU(TH) COOK

You(th) Cook is a non-profit organization that provides healthy substantial meals to the homeless population across the Greater Seattle Area. It was co-founded by Anika Consul, Ananya Nandula, and Anisha Karnik in March 2020. They serve 100 people weekly and are actively involving more members of the community to help with their initiative. With unemployment rates increasing and food security decreasing, they saw the unique opportunity to take action and help in any way they could.
